2007 Top Songs

Eric Clapton and his band have been on tour since 2006. Clapton has been playing Japan, Singapore, Thailand, China, New Zealand and Australia during the past several months. The tour is coming to the United States this month with the first show being in Dallas, Texas at the American Airlines Arena on February 28th. Tickets may still be on sale and available through Ticketmaster. Check their web site for more information on tickets.

Nine Inch Nails (NIN) is hitting the road and beginning their 2007 tour in Lisbon, Portugal.

The NIN tour officially begins on February 10 and will continue through the summer. Dates are available below for February through May 2007. Nine Inch Nails will be playing Portugal, Spain, France, the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Holland, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Australia, and Japan.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers were formed in Los Angeles, California in 1983. The band has successfully fused various elements of alternative rock, punk, funk, rap, heavy metal and psychedelic rock, throughout their twenty four year career. To date, The Red Hot Chili Peppers have sold over 60 million records worldwide, and also hold the record for most number one singles (11) on the Billboard Modern Rock Chart.

We’ve been hearing rumors for some time now and it turns out they are true. Top rock ‘n roll band Van Halen will be uniting with their original leg splitting singer, David Lee Roth, for a North American summer tour.

No specific dates have yet been named but the band is planning to do a 40 city tour in North America. It will be the first time since 1984 that David Lee Roth will be performing on the road with the band. Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang (age 15) will be replacing original bass guitarist Michael Anthony. Van Halen is expected to be inducted into the rock ‘n roll Hall of Fame at a ceremony in New York on March 12, 2007.

The band’s 1978 debut release, simply titled Van Halen, is regarded by many as a milestone in the rock ‘n roll music industry. With the release of Van Halen, the band hit the rock ‘n roll scene like a sledgehammer. It was if overnight Eddie Van Halen’s now infamous guitar solo, titled eruption, spread across the nation and then the world.

The Van Halen sound was unique and the band established themselves as the leaders of the US hard rock scene of the early 1980s. Millions of kids picked up guitars with the desire to learn to play like Eddie.

Van Halen released 11 studio albums from 1978 through 1998. Every record released broke the top 20 spot on Billboards top 200 music chart. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Van Halen is on the list of Top Selling Artists of all time, holding position number 19, and having sold more than 56 million albums in the United States.

Van Halen is among the seven rock groups that have had two records sell more than 10 million copies in the United States. The first was their self-titled debut and the other was their release (which had a huge MTV debut) titled 1984. The other six bands to sell two records at more than 10 million copies each are AC/DC, Def Leppard, the Beatles, Eagles, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd.

No mention of which 40 cities Van Halen will be appearing in as of yet. When the information comes in it will be posted here. Long live rock ‘n roll!

This web site was created today, February 3, 2007, with an intention to organize multiple song lists of music from 2007 and offer information related to bands on the road in 2007.

We will be compiling lists in all kinds of music genres including: rock ‘n roll, heavy-metal, techno, top, country, trance, alternative, punk, R&B, rap, hip-hop, hard rock, dance, classical, and theatrical.

January 2007 is already behind us but we will begin posting some articles related to current tours along with top song lists for music released in January 2007 during the month of February.

Some bands coming back together in 2007 for reunion appearances include: Rage Against the Machine, Van Halen, The Police, My Bloody Valentine, The Jesus and Mary Chain, and Crowded House. When we get word of old bands coming back together for any 2007 events, the information will get posted here.

Music has been released in January 2007 by artists such as: John Mellencamp (Freedom’s Road), Carly Simon (Candylion), Saliva (Blood Stained Love Story), Harry Connick, Jr. (Oh, My NOLA), Norah Jones (Not Too Late), Sick of It All (Our Impact Will Be Felt), The View (Hats off to the Buskers), Menomena (Friend and Foe), The Shins (Wincing the Night Away), Shot Down Sun (The Human Design), and Grave Digger (Liberty or Death).

It’s too early to say what the top 100 songs in 2007 are going to be, since the majority of songs for this year are yet to be released. Not sure yet whether well create a 2007 Top Songs list that will encompass all categories or whether we will divide it into different music genres.
