Hey there Ozzy Osbourne and Ozzfest fans! I was planning to post a list of tour dates (that someone sent me) for the 2007 free Ozzfest tour, but the first date was listed as July 1 and according to reports from Live Nation, the tour is beginning on July 7, in Los Angeles, California. Rather than create some false excitement, I’ll wait till I get some more information before posting the actual dates. Ozzfest 2007 will be the 12th annual hard rock extravaganza put on by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. There are an expected 25 dates which include performances in the following cities: Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, Albuquerque, Phoenix, Dallas, San Antonio, Kansas City, St Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis, Columbus, Pittsburgh, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Hartford, Charlotte, Atlanta, West Palm Beach, and Nashville.
Tickets for this year’s Ozzfest will be free, and unless I hear differently, they’ll be available through Live Nation. Corporate sponsors for the 2007 tour include Monster Energy Drink and Jagermeister.
I suspected I had some photos from a Blizzard of Oz concert (with Randy Rhoads) that I took at the Palladium, in New York City, in May of 1981, when I was 15 years old (I’m an older guy now). I was excited about posting tour dates so I thought I’d go look for the photos. Not only did I find them, I even located the two original ticket stubs from the Blizzard of Oz concert in New York City where I took the photos.

There were two shows that day. As you’ll see on one ticket stub, there was an 8 p.m. show, and for that one I sat up pretty high in the balcony. For the 11:30 p.m. show I had ROW A (front row baby!) tickets and I was squished right up against the front of the stage, being a 15 year old kid in a crowd of New York head bangers. I had some old cheesy Kodak camera but I still have the photos and the negatives to this day. I scanned two of the photos that had Randy Rhoads in them so you can view them here.

I think Ozzy wore white all night long. In the above photo Randy is playing a Gibson Les Paul guitar (note the stacks of Marshall amps behind him).

Photo above features Randy Rhodes with his polka dot flying V guitar.
The Blizzard of Oz was a great show that could never be duplicated. I’m sure Ozzfest 2007 will be a spectacular event. I promise to get dates posted once I get more information. Rock on!
